"Transported"

runner up, Ben Stump
The first Jamaica Plain Story Slam at Bella Lunas and the Milky Way Lounge was an overwhelming success. The doors opened at 6:30pm and an enthusiastic story crowd poured in. By 7:10pm  the room was at capacity forcing  late comers to find standing room only spaces on the floor .
Many new tellers signed up to take their turn at the mic along with several seasoned story slam participants. The stories were lively and moving. massmouth's own  Robin Maxfield and HR Britton co-hosted the slam and created a warm and inviting atmosphere. Karen Given , second place winner at the Kennedys slam on October 4th, opened the second set of stories with a story transporting us to Africa.  During the evening's theme of "transported " the listeners traveled to places people only dream of, literally, as many people offered stories of their dreams . we rode down embankments in runaway cars, went camping, traveled with some questionable and perhaps murderous company. The listeners were charmed to hear Katie Liesener, Oct.4th  story slam winner as she favored us with another one of her "gems" and  closed out the second set of stories.  Judges had a difficult time calculating the winners as the numbers were all so close.

Elby - first place winner
New comer Ben Stump came in second and Elby also a newcomer came in first. Story tellers included: Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich, Andrea Mayer, Janet Levatin, Meridith Levy, Bruce Marcus, Harry Mishken, David Briola, and Daniel Gewertz.

Thanks to everyone who came and supported this first JP slam and don't miss the next slam in Sommerville on the 26th of October at Johnny D's theme "Horrified"....www.massmouth.com/events
